In our fabulous Dallas hotel, just by the lifts on our floor, was this rather splendid telephone
The sign beside it says ‘This phone will ring directly to consider it done’. Consider it Done is a service in the hotel which you can phone from your room too. In each room there are telephones (two in our room, which was a standard room, so goodness knows how many phones there were in the superior rooms) which you can use to dial outside numbers, or various services within the hotel – Valet Parking, Laundry, Concierge, Room Service etc. Beside those buttons was one labelled ‘Consider it Done’. We called it once, when our room safe wouldn’t open.
“Good afternoon, this is Consider it Done, how may I help you today?”
“Hello, this is Room 1234, we have a problem with our safe.” I was ready to explain the problem, but didn’t get the chance because the voice on the other end said;
“Someone will be with you straight away.”
Yes, within less than five minutes someone came to the door, checked our ID, then fixed the safe. Brilliant service.
I wonder what else I could have requested? Asking for the safe to be fixed seems rather dull in retrospect. Perhaps the conversation could have gone more like this:
“Good afternoon, this is Consider it Done, how may I help you today?”
“Hello this is Room 1234, I’d like to look like Jennifer Anniston please.”
“Someone will be with you straight away.” and within 5 minutes a team of plastic surgeons and image consultants would arrive at the door!
What would you have asked for?

Haha!
Erm… for next week’s Lottery numbers? Is that too greedy, Elaine?
Oooh, I like that idea!
What great service.
