Last time I posted I had just returned on the Friday from five days away on a residential activity week. The next day (Saturday) I flew to Florida for a week long family holiday in the Disney area.
One of my nephews (my sister’s elder son) had won a villa holiday and very kindly thought of his family as companions for the trip. It was all quite quickly arranged because of various academic committments, and my sister and family (plus a friend) went for two weeks with us joining them for the second week. We had a great time and were exhausted by the end of it – so many parks to visit, a lovely pool to swim in, meals out to enjoy. The weather was very hot (93F/34C) compared to what we’d been having in the UK – thank goodness for air-conditioned shops and restaurants in the theme parks is all I can say!
We went to the Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and Seaworld. Phew. Everything was wonderful, but if I had to pick just one area that stood out, it would be The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. The theming is fantastic and the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Forest ride is brilliant.
Here are some quick photos I took of the Harry Potter area. We visited twice, once late in the day when the sun was going down and then another day around lunchtime.
More later, when I have caught up with the laundry, grass cutting and grocery shopping!
