six word saturday – two things I’m not ready for

AUTUMN LEAVES HAVE STARTED TO FALL

CHRISTMAS ITEMS ON SALE IN SHOPS

It’s only the end of summer, for goodness sake!!  Just a week ago we were basking in temperatures of 30 degrees and now we have the heating on in the evening, I’m thinking of getting my winter boots out,  the leaves are beginning to change colour and fall AND the ‘seasonal’ aisle in the supermarket is starting to load up with chocolates, mince pies, Christmas puddings and all sorts of other stuff.  The garden centre where I went yesterday to buy some autumn plants has started its display of Christmas decorations, and a friend who lives in a different part of the country reported that she had seen Christmas trees (artificial) for sale in one shop!   Aaarrggh!

Here’s a nice Snoopy picture to calm me down…

  1. We’re on the same wavelength! And I also missed the summer, one way or another.

  2. I’m hating all the Christmas stuff in the shops – should be a law against it!

  3. Shops will do anything to get money in, even if it means dragging a season forward by the tail. Christmas items in September… Indeed, like Caroline said, we need a law against that.

  4. Agreed! It’s still over a month til Hallowe’en and they’re already flogging Christmas stuff – the world has gone mad! 🙂

  5. Money to be made…regardless of sanity.

  6. I love autumn, but I agree–I do hate seeing the Christmas things out in the stores before we’ve even gotten through Halloween!

  7. Not ready to even think about getting ready for winter although we had the air conditioner and furnace on on the same day.

  8. Yep, we were roasting marshmallows too last night.

  9. I LOVE that Snoopy photo, Elaine. I may well put him in my Restlessjo folder, for a rainy day. 🙂

  10. P.S Thanks for sharing. I’ve gone one better and set it as my background on the laptop. 🙂

  11. You are heading for winter and we are supposed to be going into summer…you could have fooled me today…windy and cold.

  12. Hi Elaine ~~ We left just in time, almost. The first wee we were back temps were in the high 90’s here. Now in the lower 90’s. There is supposed to be one 89 day next week. Fall is coming for nicer golf weather.

I like your Snoopy picture. We generally have a weiner roast party for Halloween, I am hoping again this year. Last year we missed it as we were in London for Guy Fawkes Day and Halloween.

Yes, the tub has our 4-year-old London girl’s toys.
    ..

  13. The Snoopy picture takes me back to my childhood, and one of the many reasons I love fall!

  14. There were fruit mince pies in the supermarket at home in August. It’s sinful really, but the shops wouldn’t stock all this stuff so early if people didn’t buy it. I hope the weather improves for you soon.

  15. I saw pumpkins in the store today and thought the same thing

  16. Oh yes I so know what you mean… *sigh* it’s all way too early for me as well: summer flew by too fast and it’s autumn already :/
I’m not going near shops where they have Christmas stuff but in my local supermarket they do have the Sinterklaas candies (which is celebrated on 5 Dec here) and I walk fast past those as well. I don’t want to buy it yet 😉
And on top of that the Autumn weather is all non-stop rains and storms! So no… I agree I don’t like it one bit!
Love your Snoopy pic though 🙂

Now it's your turn
