A FEW MORE DAYS TO GO

THEN THE SUMMER BREAK IS OVER

Our last of many summer visitors will be leaving soon and no more trips are planned, so it’s all back to normal by the end of next week.

I hope everyone has a good Saturday!

  1. My summer break ended weeks ago…**sigh** Enjoy your last few days!

    My Six Words

  2. I am always on break – fall break is just beginning!

  3. We don’t normally get a summer as we homeschool year round but hubby teaches in a private school so his summer is officially over.

  4. Out of the office and back into the classroom this past Monday…..

  5. It’s the changing of the seasons in life and nature, and it’s the beginning of spring that sparks my creativeness!

  6. Hoping your summer was everything you wanted it to be and that your fall will be spectacular!

  7. Hi Elaine ~~ Our Texas schools started August 25, poor little London girl has been in Kindergarten now for a week. She learned only ONE THING. How to make her lunch card (it has a cash balance) work for ice cream after lunch.

Nothing else to learn, she learned it all and graduated from Reception at Abercorn in London. But she’s only five, July 16, so they won’t let her in first grade here. In a week or so she may end up in a private school, first grade.

She knows every word for the whole year in Kindergarten, can read, knows phonics, some addition ‘facts’, and you name it, the Brits have good education. She even told me how many bones I had in my human body. She’d be in first grade there.

    • Isn’t it strange how different the systems are, Jim? She sounds precious! πŸ™‚

    • It seems a shame that London girl’s school can’t advance her in some way? I can see why the school might want to keep her with her own age group, but if she is going to spend a year learning nothing new, that will be a bit demoralising for her. Could they not give her an individual program to follow when the other children are reading/doing maths etc?

  8. I think we might have been sold an Indian Summer by the weather folks, Elaine (well, a few days anyway) but that’s not much help when you’re back to work. Hope you’re making the very most of this weekend. πŸ™‚

  9. I’ve totally missed out on summer for the past couple of years, spending winter in Florida, and then another one in South Africa. Not that one would really notice that it’s winter in either place. πŸ™‚ Love the chicken funny.

  10. Oh yes- Summer Break! Now we are retired- so every day is a holiday! Cheers!

  11. Here, I am counting down to two weeks of spring holidays and then only another term before our summer holidays start. It’s the first day of spring today.

  12. Hope you enjoyed your days of leisure… busy days ahead πŸ™‚

Now it's your turn
