I used to be indecisive…

…but now I'm not so sure

a three day weekend

This weekend is our Spring Bank Holiday weekend.  We are very lucky here to have a public holiday on the first Monday in May, and the last.  According to timeanddate.com – “The spring bank holiday started as the Monday after Pentecost. This is known as Whitsun or Whit Monday in the United Kingdom. The Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971, moved this bank holiday to the last Monday in May, following a trail period of this arrangement from 1965 to 1970.”

Here’s a Snoopy smile –

Hope you have a good Saturday.

This post is for Six Word Saturday.  Visit Cate’s blog  Show My Face for more sets of six words.

  1. I don’t know anyone who could complain about a 3-day weekend! I hope you enjoyed it! 🙂

  2. We have a long weekend too, but here the holiday is actually on Whit Monday every year. It just so happens that this year Whit Monday is the last Monday in May.

  3. I remember as a child a Whit Monday holiday. But that was stopped here in Trinidad a long time ago
    Have a nice week end

    Much love…

  4. I’m puzzled by what it has to do with “The Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971”?
Now where can I get a bone from…?

  5. We are also having a three day weekend . It is now called Memorial Day . Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s armed forces. The holiday, which is observed every year on the last Monday of May, originated as Decoration Day after the American Civil War in 1868, when the Grand Army of the Republic, an organization of Union veterans — established it as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers. By the 20th century, competing Union and Confederate holiday traditions, celebrated on different days, had merged, and Memorial Day eventually extended to honor all Americans who died while in the military service.
Now you have more info than perhaps you ever needed!
    Have a lovely long weekend!

  8. I like Snoopy’s kind of exercise!

  9. As I said to Melissa, you just had a long weekend and now you’ve got another one. I wonder why they are called Bank holidays. Is it something to do with banking? Anyway, we’ve got a long weekend coming up in June for the Queen’s Birthday, and even you don’t get a day off for her birthday!

  10. ….and it’s school half-term holiday so no work for a week. Yea! I’ll miss the kids though.
