I used to be indecisive…

…but now I'm not so sure

female mandarin and ducklings

I saw this female mandarin duck with her fourteen ducklings on the canal last weekend.  Fourteen!  I don’t think I have ever seen such a large family.

I didn’t see the male duck this time, but this is a photo from last year.

I hope you have a good weekend.

  1. Goodness me, that’s a brood. Mum will be busy.

  2. Absolutely gorgeous family in nature.

  3. Heck! I struggled with two 🙂 🙂
Gorgeous captures, both of them, Elaine. I’d better go and check if Cate’s about yet.

  4. That would be more than I could handle!

  5. Oh, how delightful. I hope she can keep them all safe. Love Mandarin ducks…

    • I love them too – they almost look unreal I think, especially the males. I was very excited when I first spotted them a couple of years ago, but apparently we have a few breeding pairs on the canal/river, so I am hoping to see them more regularly (especially if quite a few of this brood survive).

  6. Cute, Elaine! There are lots of these cute little critters around at the moment… wonderful!

  7. Lovely pictures, what a delight.

Now it's your turn
