December squares #5

The Great Australian Clock hangs in the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney.

Clockmaker Christopher Cook’s animated turret clock tells the story of Australian history from both European and Aboriginal perspectives through the use of 27 paintings, 33 picture scenes, 867 light bulbs and over 130 hand carved figurines. It also includes 32 smaller clocks showing major city times.

For Becky’s December square photo challenge  we are invited to share photos of our interpretation of ‘time’.

In the Pink Squares #26

Here’s another piece of wall art from Bondi Beach.  Can you name all the faces?

For Becky’s September square photo challenge she would like us to share photos which embrace ‘pink’ –  there could be pink in the photo, the subject or photographer could be ‘tickled pink’*, or things/people could be looking ‘in the pink’*.  A photo that manages to do all three things is the ultimate offering.

* ‘in the pink’ means in perfect condition, or in good health, and ‘tickled pink’ means delighted.

In Martin Place, Sydney there are 210 individual flowers set in small glass cubes embedded in the granite pavement.  They are a permanent reminder of the 100,000 bunches of flowers that filled the square after the Lindt Chocolate Cafe siege.  In December 2014 a gunman held 17 people hostage in the cafe for more than 16 hours, but the siege ended tragically with the death of two hostages.

This photo from ABC News shows the sea of flowers in the square.

This life size bronze statue of a business man made me look twice when I saw it – it is so realistic.
